Overrated Movies

Over the years, there have been movies that are considered “classics”, or newer movies that everyone loves, that I have then watched and been underwhelmed by. I’m sure there will be a lot of people that disagree with my picks below for Overrated Movies, so feel free to defend in the comments! Also, let me know what films you believe to be overrated. After all, everyone is entitled to their own taste in films, so I’m curious what others have to say!

The Princess Bride (1987)

I know so many people that love this movie, so it’s always hard to admit that I really don’t like The Princess Bride. I find it boring, and the lines that people laugh at don’t do anything for me. There are certain fantasy films that I enjoy, but this is definitely not on my list.

The Breakfast Club (1985)

When I went to watch this movie for the first time, I was excited. It is a classic that people talk about all the time, so I went in fully expecting to love it. However, I was let-down. I found it shallow and predictable, and it definitely left me wanting more.

Gravity (2013)

Was the cinematography in this film beautiful? Yes. However, that is where the praise stops for me. I found myself hyperventilating throughout the entire film due to hearing her breathing. It was not an enjoyable experience, and it is a very forgettable film otherwise.

Frozen (2013)

Dare I say, I think Frozen is extremely overrated. People all of all ages love this movie. I must admit, I am not a “Disney person”, but I did really enjoy Tangled, which I believed to be way better than Frozen. I’m not sure how or why the obsession with Frozen started, but I don’t understand it.

Drive (2011)

Like The Breakfast Club, I was very excited to watch this film. I am a big Ryan Gosling fan and expected to love it. However, I found it to be boring with such little dialogue. To me, there was no real story, and I’m not sure why it gets the high reviews it does.
