Things You Don’t Know Your Anxiety Is Causing

For as long as I can remember, I have struggled with anxiety. A lot of my habits I never realized were caused by my anxiety. Once you recognize that certain habits or physical symptoms may be caused by your mental health, you can try to work on the root of the issue to help with these.

Biting Your Nails (Or Cuticles)

For as long as I can remember, I have bit my cuticles. A lot of people bite their nails, cuticles, or both. It took me a long time to realize that this was a anxious tick for me. When you try and put that nervous energy elsewhere, it can help to mitigate this habit.

Grinding Your Teeth

When I was going through an anxious period a few years ago, I started grinding my teeth. Once I realized I was doing this, I tried to relax my jaw before bed. I also always wear a night guard at night incase I grind my teeth to prevent the damage and jaw issues it causes.

Insomnia

Sleepless nights can be caused by anxiety. To help with this, meditate before bed or just do some basic breathing exercises. This can lower your heart rate and help you get to sleep.

Nausea

If you have nausea that can’t be explained by anything else in your life, it might be anxiety. I tend to have a lot of stomach issues, which is caused by being anxious.

Headaches

Tension headaches can be caused by anxiety. I find that it helps to massage the base of my neck and temples.
